Boy George and Culture Club Announce 40-city, 2016 Tour

The Iconic Band Returns for A Full Tour Across the U.S, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Asia

April 11, 2016 (AUSTIN, TX) – Overwhelming excitement and outstanding reviews caused by Boy George and Culture Club‘s performances from last year’s brief mini-tour of the U.S has driven the group to announce their first full tour in over 12 years spanning 40 cities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia and Asia.  Known for dominating the charts worldwide with their classic hits including “Karma Chameleon,” “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me,” and “Miss Me Blind,” the iconic band will make a stop at the Statesman Skyline Theater at the Long Center on August 2.

Throughout Culture Club’s 2015 mini-tour, the band received rave reviews from some of music’s toughest critics:

“But if you like to go out, if you like to feel good, if you like to be transported by music, if you’re in search of authenticity in a land inundated by fake. This is your gig’’ – Bob Leftsetz, The Leftsetz Letter

“headliner Culture Club provided soul aplenty, thanks to a large backing band consisting of female singers, a horn section and George’s own burnished vocals. “Church of the Poisoned Mind” was as vibrant as ever!”  – George A. Paul, Orange County Register

“Re-emphasized George as an outsider who found a path to acceptance by his sheer lovability,” and the group’s performance, “underscored the two themes of the night – the pull of nostalgia and the power of individuality.” – Jim Farber, New York Daily News

The Grammy Award®–winning band received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans last year as they reunited and toured 20 cities in North America, leading Culture Club band members Mikey Craig (bass guitar), Roy Hay (guitar and keyboards), Jon Moss (drums and percussion) and the flamboyant front-man Boy George (lead vocals) to embark on one of their biggest tours-to-date in 2016.

As the first multi-racial band with an openly gay front man, Culture Club has set many records, including being the first band since The Beatles to have three Top Ten hits in America from a debut album. In the eighties the band dominated the charts in over a dozen countries, with multi-platinum albums and more than 50 million albums sold worldwide to date. In 2014, Culture Club reunited to create new music and has been in the studio putting the finishing touches on their new album Tribes, available now for pre-order, set to release later this year. The band recently headlined iHeart Radio’s 2016 “iHeart 80s Party” at The Forum in L.A. to a packed crowd.

STEVE MILLER BAND CONFIRMS NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR

CELEBRATES ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

AUSTIN, TX – Steve Miller Band has confirmed their 2016 North American summer tour with a stop at the Statesman Skyline Theater at the Long Center on July 26.  The tour confirmation comes on the heels of Miller being voted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  The multifaceted songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer will be inducted after being nominated for the first time this year. Miller will join fellow inductees at the 2016 induction ceremony, scheduled for April 8th, 2016.

Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late ’60s. With albums like Children of the Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music-and society-could be in the years to come.

Then, in the ’70s, Miller crafted a brand of rock ‘n’ roll music that was polished, exciting and irresistible, and that has dominated radio through today.  Hit followed hit in an endless flow: “The Joker,” “Livin’ in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Abracadabra” among them. To this day, these songs are instantly recognizable when they come on the radio-and impossible not to sing along with.

Running through Miller’s catalogue is a combination of virtuosity and songcraft along with melodic vocals and signature guitar riffs. His parents were jazz aficionados — Les Paul was his godfather — so as a budding guitarist and singer, Miller absorbed valuable lessons from their musical tradition. When the family moved to Texas, Miller deepened his education in the blues, meeting T-Bone Walker and learning to sing and play listening to him and Jimmy Reed.  Miller then moved to Chicago where he played with Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Buddy Guy and Paul Butterfield.

Miller is also contributing his time to serving on the welcoming committee of the Department of Musical Instruments of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and as a board member of Jazz at Lincoln Center, where he curates and hosts shows at both institutions celebrating the bridge between blues and jazz music and early American music.

BOSTON ROCKS THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A 2016 TOUR

AUSTIN, TX — As Tom Scholz wrote in the rock anthem on the BOSTON album Don’t Look Back, “It’s a Party, Party, Party!” Indeed, the 40th anniversary BOSTON tour promises to be a celebration honoring the group’s loyal fans. Many of them have supported BOSTON since 1976 when the debut album, Boston first hit the airwaves and took rock radio by storm, so it’s not surprising to see concert audiences that span generations.

Boston makes a stop at the new Statesman Skyline Theater at the Long Center on Saturday, June 11 with Dennis DeYoung, performing the Music of Styx.  Tickets go on sale Friday, March 25 at 10:00 AM local.

Always a huge crowd pleaser with their high-energy stage show, out-of-this-world sound, and remarkable musicianship and singing, BOSTON prides itself on performing a totally live show without the use of prerecorded music or technical enhancements, delivering the extraordinary sound that is faithful to their studio recordings.

BOSTON became an iconic classic rock fixture when they joined the music scene with their self-titled album in 1976. With over 17 million copies sold, Boston generated hits such as “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Smokin’,” rock radio staples that are still in heavy rotation today. Their second album, Don’t Look Back was another chart-topper that confirmed their place in rock history, followed by Third Stage, which hit #1 on the charts, with the top single of 1986, “Amanda.” With over 31 million albums sold to date, BOSTON has stood the test of time.

Fans can expect to hear all the classic songs they have grown to love, and will be treated to wild Hammond organ work, soaring harmony guitars, and exceptional vocal arrangements, as well as BOSTON’s unique visual stage presentation and plenty of extra-terrestrial sounds heard nowhere else on earth.
